Interview Jessica Henwick - Marvels Iron Fist - Matrix - Star Wars

Jessica Henwick flew an X-Wing through the Star Wars universe and with Iron Fist fought her way through the Marvel adventures at Netlix. She was also in The Matrix: Resurrections and you probably know her from the fantasy hit Game of Thrones.

At Prague Comic Con 2025 I had the chance to speak with Jessica Henwick about her franchise roles and what the future might hold.

You can find the German version of the interview HERE.

You had Star Wars and of course Game of Thrones. Did this somehow prepare you for the hype that came with the Marvel shows?

It was a nice introduction to the craziness. Obviously I had fairly small roles in Star Wars and Game of Thrones, so I got to see it, but I didn’t feel hugely impacted by it myself and Marvel just took it to the next level, yes.

What was it like to step onto sets that you have on Star Wars, Marvel, Game of Thrones and so on?

The best thing about massive IP franchises is, they have insane budgets. So that’s a real pleasure to go to a set and see that it has actually been built and it’s not a green screen or with Game of Thrones we got to film at so many amazing places like Real Alcázar Palace in Seville and I just felt so lucky all the time, because this does the work for you. It’s less acting to do.

Now that Daredevil is continued on Disney+ and there are so many discussions surrounding Avengers: Doomsday, would you like to be on another Marvel project and join the MCU now officially and where would you like to see your character then?

Playing Colleen was one of the greatest pleasures. I love her so much. And it is a role that seems to connect with people, even that it has been so many years it‘s the thing most people come up to me about. It’s nice to have something that people feel an affinity with. Yes, I would definitively love to revisit her. In terms of what I would like to see, I really liked in the comic books the Daughters of Dragon arc and obviously at the end of season 2 that was the direction it was headed. So I would have liked to explore that a bit more.

There are so many big franchises you have worked on. Is there any other franchise you would like to join, either a big one or a smaller one.

Big oder small franchises. That’s really hard.

Or maybe a novel that you would like to see an adaptation of.

You know, I’ve filmed these amazing franchises, but I have not … I would love if they would made an Oblivion adaptation, or Skyrim adaptation, the games. Even I have done a lot of fantasy, I have never done anything massive as in a fantastical world. I would like to do something like that. I think it would really tickle the child in me, as a player of the games.

In Star Wars: The Force Awakens most of your scenes were done in an X-Wing cockpit. What was it like doing these and how does it compare to your action heavy roles?

Filming Star Wars in the Cockpit – in the X-Wing Cockpit – was quite nauseating. A lot of people got really sea sick, because they actually built the X-Wing and put it on a gimble, so that you would climb in and they would raise you up 20, 30 feet in the air and then the X-Wing would move as it would fly. And so it was a tiny rollercoaster and a lot of the actors couldn’t do it and they had to get out, but I kind of took a massivley sick pride in going for as long as I could. I remember once I was in there half an hour straight, just doing line after line after line, just saying random stuff so they could cut whatever they wanted into the film.

Recently you have been doing a lot of voice acting. What do you like about it and how does it compare to acting?

I like that you can go to work in your pyjamas and you don’t have to put make up on and in terms of how it compares to acting the other big joy with voice acting is that I get to do voices that I would never be allowed to do if I were on camera. People would look at me and go „That voice doesn’t match that face.“ So you really get to push the boundaries in voice acting and that is why I like it.

Last question: What are your future projects? What can your fans look forward to?

I have a film that is currently called Huntington, but I think the title might change. With Glen Powell, very amazing, wonderful American actor. So that’s coming out hopefully end of this year or beginning of the next year. And then I just wrapped season 3 of Silo for Apple TV+, which was one of the greatest jobs I’ve ever had. Seriously live-changing.
